Dartmoor Jar

This Dartmoor Sphere is a particularly dynamic example of my Dartmoor pots. Everything that went into making this piece comes from Dartmoor in Devon. It was made using a mix of two clays from the East of Dartmoor, with grog from the same clay and quartz from the original granite. The white glaze is made using a very rare and pure microgranite, and the overlying glaze is made using the Dartmoor granite, plus other local rocks. They have interacted with the ash from the woodfiring to produce runs, which have wrapped around the pot.
