Dartmoor Sphere 2

This Dartmoor Sphere is a particularly fine example, with a rich and varied surface. Everything that went into making this piece comes from Dartmoor in Devon.It was made using impure china clay from kaolinised Dartmoor granite, that still contains quartz and mica, along with milled quartz. This has flashed warm orange where unglazed. The glazes are made using the Dartmoor granite, plus other local rocks. They have interacted with the ash from the woodfiring to produce runs of blue with white crystals.
